ISCC Health & Safety Grant Program: Investing in Member Safety Success

The Independent Schools Compensation Corporation (ISCC) is proud to announce another successful year of our Health & Safety Grant Program, with over $40,000 awarded to member institutions in 2024. These grants have enabled our members to implement crucial safety initiatives, from preventing slip-and-fall accidents to enhancing campus security through improved lighting systems.

We encourage our members to take advantage of these grants, and submit an application.

Note: Please look out for applications which will be sent to ISCC Members in early February.

Making A Difference In Campus Safety

The impact of these grants has been remarkable. In 2024, our member schools successfully implemented various safety improvements, including:

  • Installation of ADA-compliant walkways to ensure safe passage for all staff members
  • Enhanced exterior lighting systems for improved nighttime security
  • State-of-the-art snow removal equipment to prevent winter-related accidents
  • Comprehensive slip-and-fall prevention measures

Why You Should Apply

Despite the program’s success, we’ve noticed that many of our valued members aren’t taking advantage of this outstanding opportunity. Consider this: just a few minutes of your time completing an application could secure up thousands in funding for your institution’s safety initiatives.

The application process is straightforward, and the potential benefits are substantial. Our Claims and Loss Control Committee reviews each application carefully, looking for projects that will make a meaningful impact on staff safety and well-being.

What Makes A Strong Application?

Successful applications typically include:

  • Clear objectives focused on employee health and safety
  • Specific details about how the funds will be used
  • A completed Hazard Identification Worksheet (optional but recommended)
  • Documentation of participation in ISCC educational events

Looking Ahead To 2025

While specific dates for the 2025 grant cycle will be announced soon, we encourage all members to start thinking about potential safety initiatives at their institutions. Consider areas where additional resources could make a significant difference in protecting your staff and preventing accidents.

Remember, our leading cause of claims continues to be slip-and-fall incidents. Projects addressing this risk area are particularly valuable, though we welcome innovative proposals addressing any aspect of workplace safety.

The Impact On Your Institution

Previous grant recipients have reported numerous benefits, including:

  • Reduced workplace accidents and injuries
  • Lower insurance claims
  • Improved staff morale and satisfaction
  • Enhanced campus safety culture
